Chiva Chaitya Presented at European Digital Week

One of the missions of Chiva Chaitya Organization in it's three pronged mission of documentation, promotion and restoration of Chivas and Chaityas of Kathmandu Valley is documentation. Chiva Chaitya organization is trying to map all the Chivas and Chaityas of Kathmandu Valley in to a GIS(Geographic Information System) enabled map system. Once completed will be of use to all including for future for location of each and every Chiva. Although it seems a daunting task, the organization hopes to achieve maximum number of locations included one day.  Chiva Chaitya at European Digital Week 2020 Role of GIS in preservation of Chiva and Chaitya European Digital Week (https://europeandigitalweek.com/) is the biggest event in Europe digital technology wise. It includes 24 conferences in the main program and 2 conferences, 5 forums and 1 round table in the additional program. This year it will in virtual format. It is going to be held from Sept 21 to Sept 26, 2020. There is scheduled to be participants from 78 countries. Chiva Chaitya Organization is working for the promotion and protection Chivas and Chaityas of Kathmandu Valley. With this goal, the organization has set  specific targets in documentation, promotion and restoration of these unique heritage of Nepal.  There are estimated to be 2000 to 2500 Chiva in the Kathmandu Valley. Scripts carved in stone - most important part of an archaeological object It gives history of the Chiva, history of the people who have established the Chiva, year of establishment and so on. The writings(carvings) are usually in bigger space. but in other times they might be in smaller areas or in a separate stone tablet. Due to ignorance of people and indifference towards heritage these important evidence and history are being neglected and damaged knowingly and unknowingly. चिभाहरुमा हुने सिलापत्र वा चिभामानैं कुंदिएका अक्षरहरुले ईतिहास बताईरहेका हुन्छन र तिनीहरु हाम्रो ईतिहासको अभिन्न अंग हुन। तिनीहरुको संरक्षण गर्नु अत्यन्त जरुरी भईसकेको छ। This Chiva at Wotu, Kathmandu is with inscriptions which is written in NepalLipi(an indigenous script of Nepal). The scripts give us history of the Chiva. It is established in Year of Nepal 1044. That means this Chiva is 96 years old(currently, we are running year of Nepal 1140).  Notice about Chiva Chaitya QuestionAnswer Competetion In our continued efforts to increase awareness about importance of protection of monuments like Chivas and Chaityas, we had organised Chiva Chaitya Competition in June. This is the notice regarding the same. ------------------------------- We would like to thank you for participating in the 'Chiva Chaitya question answer competition' held in June 2020. We, Chiva Chaitya Organization intended to hold a program and declare results along with distribution of prizes and certificates. But due continuous uncertainty and limited mobility due to corona virus threats, we have not been able to schedule a program, which shall enable us to conduct an official program. In case the situation does not allow us to conduct a formal program in near future, we shall publish the results online shortly.
