Kathmandu’s Treasures Go Global: CCO showcased on Google Arts & Culture

Chiva Chaitya Organization partnered with Google - Kathmandu’s Treasures Go Global: CCO showcased on Google Arts & Culture

The Chiva Chaitya Organization (CCO) proudly announces an achievement with the launch of its first content on the Google Arts & Culture platform on October 16, 2024. This marks an extraordinary moment not just for the organization, but for the entire community of the Kathmandu Valley, whose rich heritage will now be shared with a global audience. The platform’s global reach aligns perfectly with CCO’s vision of showcasing the Valley’s unique cultural treasures, which include chaityas, stupas, hitis, chivas, and other architectural marvels that have withstood the test of time.

Through this prestigious digital platform, CCO aims to tell the stories behind the intricate monuments, ancient practices, and living traditions of the Valley. Each monument and artifact is more than just stone or woodwork—it reflects layers of history, spirituality, and the community’s connection to their heritage. The initiative is a response to the increasing need for documentation, preservation, and promotion of cultural assets, ensuring that they are accessible to future generations.

This digital presence is not merely a project of CCO—it is a celebration of the Kathmandu Valley’s heritage. Local communities, cultural custodians, artisans, and heritage enthusiasts will all benefit from this effort, which seeks to foster a sense of pride and deeper engagement with local history. It opens new doors for research, education, and international collaboration, bringing both awareness and appreciation to the vibrant traditions that form the identity of the region.

CCO is deeply grateful to everyone involved in making this project a reality, from community members to international supporters and volunteers. As the journey on Google Arts & Culture begins, CCO invites everyone to explore the first content online, reflect on the Valley’s remarkable cultural legacy, and join hands in preserving it for the future. This is just the beginning—many more stories of the Valley's heritage await to be told.
