Heritage protection shall be part of develeopment plan

Hope UNESCO Nepal looks into this matter with due urgency.

When we build roads, or widen roads, planting trees in the roadside, pedestrian way, proper crossing etc shall be part of the development plan. Only then we can say that it is a development plan, otherwise, it is just another destruction plan.

Similarly, heritage like Chiva Chaitya shall be preserved and restored and they shall not be destroyed in the name of development and road expansion. There is always alternative ways to build or expand the roads. The planning should be such that protection is given to these invaluable heritage of the country. Knowingly or unknowingly if any destruction has been done to the heritage. they must be restored at the same place as it is originally.

The case is of Lubhu. The Chiva is ancient and so beautiful, example of extremely beautiful stone carving and place of honor for many local residents. But somehow the short-sighted "developer" managed to dismantle this Chiva. We hope that the Chiva will be restored at the same original place with dignity. If the Chiva is not restored at the original place, it will be extremely unfortunate for all. We who are so proud of our heritage and we have such heritage, beautiful enough to be displayed to the world have no say and those who have influence seems do not care about the heritage and are short-sighted.

It is imperative that the planners and people of influence open their eyes and learn that heritage as invaluable and need protection and promotion.

Let this Chiva at Lubhu be restored at the original place.
