Work of Chiva Chaitya Organization Nominated for Keck Award by IIC(International Institute For Conservation Of Historic And Artistic Works)
IIC is a global organization for conservation and restoration professionals with over two thousand members in over fifty countries. IIC seeks to promote the knowledge, methods and working standards needed to protect and preserve historic and artistic works throughout the world.
In 1994, the IIC Council announced the establishment of the IIC Keck Award, generously endowed by Sheldon and Caroline Keck to commemorate their shared lives of distinguished achievement in conservation. The cash award of £2500 is presented every two years at the IIC Congress to -- in Caroline Keck's words -- the individual or group who has in the opinion of the Council contributed most towards promoting public understanding and appreciation of the accomplishments of the conservation profession.
The IIC Keck Award is presented every two years to the individual or group who has contributed most towards promoting public understanding of conservation. IIC announced the ten strong shortlist, with projects from across the world.
IIC said: "We were delighted to receive so many entries for our Keck Awards this year, which highlight projects demonstrating excellent public outreach around conservation. They represent a very wide range of approaches from every part of the world, and demonstrate how creative public engagement has grown in the past two years, despite - and sometimes because - of the obstacles of the pandemic.
We have now chosen ten projects for the shortlist. We will be publishing more details about these shortly in News in Conservation's August issue. There will also be an opportunity to vote on your favorite project in the public vote, which opens on 22nd August. Watch this space for more details!"
