Chiva Chaitya Launches Two Books on Stone Inscriptions
Two volumes Collection of Stone Inscriptions Related to Chivas series, volume 2 by Epigraph Padmadhar Tuladhar and volume 3 by Siddhiratna Shakya were launched on Aug 1, 2026. At the launch of its Collection of Stone Inscriptions Related to Chivas series, Chiva Chaitya Organization (CCO) highlighted the importance of documenting and preserving these invaluable records of the Kathmandu Valley’s cultural heritage. Stone inscriptions associated with Chivas preserve names, dates, acts of devotion, remembrance, religious beliefs, and social practices that might otherwise have been lost to history. Since many Chivas were established by ordinary individuals and families, these inscriptions offer a unique glimpse into the lives, aspirations, and faith of people beyond the histories of kings and rulers.
