Chiva are those beautifully carved votive monuments dotted all around the Kathmandu valley in thousands of number since hundreds of years. Chivas are place of respect and center of many social and religious activities for communities in the valley.
Although they carry archaeological, social and also economical values due to various reasons many are in despair, encroached and endangered. CCO is trying to fill the gap where there is no focused group to address the issues of neglected and unattended Chivas.
Since many years CCO has been working with communities and successfully salvaged and restored many Chivas.
Now work of Chiva Chaitya Organization is nominated for Keck Award by IIC(International Institute For Conservation Of Historic And Artistic Works). IIC is a global organization for conservation and restoration professionals with over two thousand members in over fifty countries.
