Chiva Chaitya Organization is pleased to publish result of the competition 'Why we need to protect heritage like Chiva Chaitya?' held in June 2020. Although there was plan to distribute certificates and prizes in a program, due to continued COVID situation, gatherings are not possible. One of the missions of Chiva Chaitya Organization in it's three pronged mission of documentation, promotion and restoration of Chivas and Chaityas of Kathmandu Valley is documentation. Chiva Chaitya organization is trying to map all the Chivas and Chaityas of Kathmandu Valley in to a GIS(Geographic Information System) enabled map system. Once completed will be of use to all including for future for location of each and every Chiva. Although it seems a daunting task, the organization hopes to achieve maximum number of locations included one day.  Chiva Chaitya at European Digital Week 2020 Role of GIS in preservation of Chiva and Chaitya European Digital Week (https://europeandigitalweek.com/) is the biggest event in Europe digital technology wise. It includes 24 conferences in the main program and 2 conferences, 5 forums and 1 round table in the additional program. This year it will in virtual format. It is going to be held from Sept 21 to Sept 26, 2020. There is scheduled to be participants from 78 countries. Chiva Chaitya Organization is working for the promotion and protection Chivas and Chaityas of Kathmandu Valley. With this goal, the organization has set  specific targets in documentation, promotion and restoration of these unique heritage of Nepal.  There are estimated to be 2000 to 2500 Chiva in the Kathmandu Valley. Scripts carved in stone - most important part of an archaeological object It gives history of the Chiva, history of the people who have established the Chiva, year of establishment and so on. The writings(carvings) are usually in bigger space. but in other times they might be in smaller areas or in a separate stone tablet. We, Chiva Chaitya Organization intended to hold a program and declare results along with distribution of prizes and certificates. But due continuous uncertainty and limited mobility due to corona virus threats, we have not been able to schedule a program, which shall enable us to conduct an official program. Interview in Bodhi TV in the program 'Samyak Sawal' The representative of Chiva Chaitya talked about importance of preservation of Heritage like Chiva. Needless to say Chivas and Chaityas of Kathmandu valley has archaeological, historical, social and economical values. Because of this reason also, World Monuments Fund has included Chivas and Chaityas of Kathmandu Valley in iyt's Watch2020 list of important monuments in the world. Ngata Team Managed by our Colleague wins Udaaya Cup Udaaya Futsal Cup was organized on March 7 and 8 of 2020. The event happened with much interest from the public and the enthusiastic spectators. The tournament was won by Ngata Team managed by our colleague Mr Kabir M Tuladhar. The award was graced by the Mayor of Kathmandu Mr Bidya Sundar Shakya. As per the winner team's affiliated organization Ngata Tuladhar Committee  " भाजु कविरमुनि तुलाधरया व्यवस्थापन व निर्देशनय् झी कासामिपिन्सं ब्वति काःगु खः । वय्कःया अनुभव, सबल तालिम व सशक्त रणनीतिया लिच्व कथं थ्व कासाय् झीसं बाँलाके फूगु खः ।  " I n other words the success came due to the able management and direction of Mr Kabir Muni Tuladhar.   Congratulations to our collegue Kabir!

The plight of Chiva is visible everywhere around us in the Kathmandu Valley. The reason for the situation of Chiva can be different, from indifference to the heritage and the lack of knowledge towards the importance of protecting our own indigenous asset of the valley. The Ujyalo Network FM 90 MHz gave the opportunity to talk about plight of Chiva and Chaitya. Listen to Chiva Chaitya on Radio  here. The Radio program gave the opportunity to explain the current status of many Chiva of Kathmandu valley and also the possible ways general public as well as those with authority can help protect these unique heritage of the Kathmandu Valley. Recognition by the World Monuments Fund about the importance of protection of Chiva and Chaitya of Kathmandu Valley were also discussed.

During the 2015 Gorkha earthquake, many heritage and archaeological sites were damaged, directly or indirectly from falling houses. And many Chiva also got damaged. One of the damaged sites is at Ason- Bodhi Chuka. During the 2015 earthquake falling debris from the falling houses damaged the ensemble of three Chiva. On the request from Binaya, a past local resident, representatives of Chiva Chaitya visited the site and discussed with the residents of the courtyard (BodhiChuka). Along with very supportive Bikashdai and others, when the ward office was approached, the ward support is full. We hope the Chiva maintenance can be carried out as soon as possible and the glory of the BodhiChuka is restored. Talking with the local residents is one of the first things we do and one of the most important part of the restoration process. This needs multiple meetings and also meeting at local authorities.

Martyr's Memorial A-Division League  has always been very popular and very much loved sports event in Kathmandu, Nepal. And this year history is created for the local club of Kathmandu, club from the core of the Kathmandu city - Keltwa. The domestic football league of Nepal started in 1954-55 season. A club, from the core part of the Kathmandu Valley,  called Machhindra Club from the beginning of this season has played very well and for the pride of the local public won the domestic league. The winning by this local club with humble beginnings has brought joy not only for the club and it's players, but also for the local people of the core Kathmandu.
